Post by Marie LaFreniere »

The following is from the Petoskey News Review.

Joe and Sandy have been coming to the island for years.

The Beaudoin family wishes to announce the sudden death of beloved wife, mother and grandmother Sandra Irene Beaudoin, 65. Sandra passed away Aug. 19, 2007, while vacationing with her immediate family on Beaver Island.

A memorial service will be 2 p.m. Friday, Aug. 24, at the First Congregational Church in Charlevoix; a final viewing will precede the service at 1 p.m. The Rev. Stephen Davidson will officiate.

Sandra â??Sandyâ?￾ was born July 29, 1942, in Charlevoix, the daughter of Orva and Beatrice (Struthers) Richardson. She grew up in Charlevoix, graduated from Charlevoix High School in 1960, and attended Davenport University in Grand Rapids.

Shortly after, Sandra moved back to Charlevoix and married Joseph Burt Beaudoin on Dec. 27, 1962 â?? a union that flourished for 45 years. Sandra and Joseph then moved to San Diego, Calif., where Sandra worked for Woodward-Clyde-Sherrard & Associates Geological Survey Company and Joseph attended San Diego State University pursuant to receiving a BS in business administration. After seven years, Sandra and Joseph returned home to Charlevoix and raised their family.

Sandraâ??s life was marked by unbounded love and family commitment. She was known locally as a selfless caregiver, spending countless hours visiting relatives and friends in hospitals and nursing homes. Sandra enjoyed literature, art and collecting antiques; she loved local history and was active in the Charlevoix Historical Society.

Sandra is survived by husband, Joseph Burt Beaudoin; son, Mark Lyle Burt Beaudoin (Laura), of Northville; and daughter, Marcie Rey Grace Sladics (Brian), of Charlevoix; four grandchildren, Haden Joseph and Marisa Ann Beaudoin, Reylin Grace and Laina Sandra Sladics; nephew, Bruce Daniel Beaudoin (Katie), Charlevoix, their children, Jacob Daniel and Abigail Kate Beaudoin; niece, Amy Lynn Beaudoin, Petoskey. Sandra was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Donald Richardson; and sister, Phyllis Richardson.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Charlevoix Historical Society or Lisa Dixon Scholarship Fund (c/o First Congregational Church).
