Audience and Contestants Wanted--Community theater bakeoff

Post by capncinde »

:D Is it Murder? Comedy? A Charity Dessert Bake-off? Yes! Please join Beaver Island Community Players, Saturday, December 2nd at 8 pm, for a short two-act murder mystery comedy play that IS also a dessert bake-off contest...Here's the story...
THE TORTE, THE TART AND THE FRUITCAKE...JUST DESSERTS?
OR MURDER?

Beaver Island Community Players are revving up for a December 2nd performance of Carl Soder’s two-act stage play; “Just Desserts.”

This comedic murder mystery evolves during the local Dessert Bake-off contest, offering an actual Dessert Bake-off with local contestants, and charity dessert auction. Of course, as they say in the business; the play’s the thing.”

Miss Peabody, a retired teacher (Lisa Gillespie) has organized a contest; with a $1000 prize to be given to the winner’s favorite charity. As this audience participation mystery unfolds, the entrants have been whittled down to three final contestants. Miss Edna Mae Carter, (Pam O’Brien), plays a frosty librarian and enters a frugal fruitcake. Margaret Mason, (Donna Stanbaugh) as the town’s haughty rich lady, has prepared a lovely torte. And, Scooter “Lucy” Bright, (Cynthia Johnson) is a sprightly Southern belle with a delicious Raspberry Tart and reputation to match.

As nasty Judge Cogsworth, (Bob Hoogendorn) reluctantly interviews contestants and judges the desserts; the audience is invited to look for clues and help solve the final mystery.

Get ready for a night of comedy and fun at the Holy Cross Parish Hall, with a cast of seasoned community players directed by John Fiegen and produced by Jacquie LaFreniere.

Everyone is invited to attend the Saturday, December 2nd, 8 p.m. performance and enter the bake-off. For details about the contest or tickets, please call Jacquie LaFreniere at 231-448-2220.
