They're Coming Back!

Post by Pam Grassmick »

Healthy MI is coming to Beaver Island!

Back by popular demand: Certified Application Counselors, Lisa and Ashley (who were on the island this winter signing people up for health insurance) are all set and eager to get back to help Islanders who may qualify for Healthy Michigan

WHEN: April 9th from 9 a.m. until 4:30 p.m.
WHERE: Beaver Island Community School.
Please call Alice Belfy to set up your appointment-448-2744.

What does that mean for you?

Michigan Medicaid coverage will be expanding to cover more of the population starting April 1st. Adults who were previously denied because they had no dependents and/or families who have a little more income will now be considered for coverage.

Per federal regulation, the Healthy Michigan Plan will cover people who are:

â?¢Not currently eligible for Medicaid
â?¢Ages 19-64
â?¢Not eligible for or enrolled in Medicare
â?¢Not pregnant
â?¢Up to 133% of the Federal Poverty Level (FPL) â?? which is about $15,000 for a single
person or just over $31,300 for a family of 4.

As a requirement of the Affordable Care Act, individuals eligible for services under the Healthy Michigan Plan must have access to the following 10 Essential Health Benefits:

â?¢Ambulatory patient services
â?¢Emergency services
â?¢Hospitalization
â?¢Maternity and newborn care
â?¢Mental health and substance use disorder services, including behavioral health treatment
â?¢Prescription drugs
â?¢Rehabilitative and habilitative services and devices
â?¢Laboratory services
â?¢Preventive and wellness services and chronic disease management
â?¢Pediatric services, including oral and vision care.

Appointment spots are filling up for the Healthy Michigan enrollment on April 9th. Please if you haven't made your appointment with Alice Belfy-448-2744, do so. The agency recognizes the need to bring this program out to the Beaver Island community and if we have an overflow of appointments, they will send out another enrollment specialist. But, we can't do that at the last minute.

We had fantastic community participation to the Affordable Health Care enrollment and expect many more can benefit from the Healthy Michigan program.
