Can Drive!

Post by debrob2 »

Thank you so much to all of you generous people who live or visit our community! In donating returnable pop/beer cans to the Middle School students at Beaver Island Community School, you have helped these kids raise over $1000.00 so far this summer! Nothing short of amazing!

If you haven't heard about this...here is the scoop! The wonderful people at the Transfer Station, particularly Don Welke, have been instrumental in helping us collect, store and sort these cans for return. Colleen Martin, at Island Energies, has agreed to help us return these cans for deposit. And last but CERTAINLY not least...kids and parents, you were AMAZING tonight! You worked very, very hard and tonight's take alone was just over $600!

So, if you would rather not mess with returning those pesky cans, feel free to drop them off at the transfer station in the specially marked Gaylord Box and the proceeds will go toward funding the 5th & 6th grade trip to Hayowentha as well as the 7th & 8th grade trip to Washington DC!

Sincerely,
Debbie Robert & Adam Richards, Class Advisors

Glad I looked at the Forum before bed+ I didn't think about posting a message, and here Deb does it so naturally.

True!

So many of you support our programs by way of buying, buying, buying. And, in so far as that suits you--thank you! But the can drive?... That is just ideal.

Sure it's grimy; sure it's smelly. But if our kids can get closer and closer to a fantastic educational trip from what feels like a hassle to most people, and do it so much more efficiently--heck yeah+++

Thanks to all who support us in this--on the giving end, the processing end, and the receiving end. You are ensuring that BI kids have some truly unforgettable trips which help to form their citizen potential, their confidence, their dedication to community, and their overall work ethic.
