It totally missed Hangman's Cove here on Whiskey Island. We are as dry as a bone over here, actually lots of bones.

Less than 1/2 " on Eagle Hill rd. The ground sucked it right-up, but the trees are still dripping.

I stand corrected, we did get rain last night on Whiskey Island. My crew tells me it was thunder that I heard but I swear it was cannon fire coming from the UP. My crew also told me that maybe it should be my bones that I dry out. That's mutiny on my ship, I will be posting for some crew openings soon.

Two inches! I only got 3/4 of an inch! I live on Sand Bay too, near Mike Boyle's beach.

Not So Weird

Post by medic5740 »

Several years ago, I remember the rain was forecast for the Island. The rain just poured down on the Winne and Lawrence McDonough Laundramat, their home, and the south end of the barn (now Stoney Acres) was drenched, but the north end of the barn barely got a sprinkle as did our mobile home next door.

The rainfall amounts could certainly differ at two residences on the same bay. It could differ between two houses next to each other. The rain clouds are one factor, the location of your rain gauge could be another, and the humidity (evaporation) could be yet another.

I learned this in a college class a very long time ago. I was in this class with Mike Scripps at Grand Valley. It was called "Atmospheres and Oceans."

Hope you have a comfortable day!
