Tuesday has a full day packed with Archaeology Activities!

Archaeology Presentations at Holy Cross Church

10 AM - 3 PM at Whiskey Point: CMU Station Open House
Always a highlight of Museum Week, the CMU Boathouse open house presents the opportunity to see the facilityĆ¢??s 12 mesocosms (each a 250-gallon tank representing a small experimental aquatic ecosystem.)

Michigan Blacksmith Artist Association continues - Day 2 - in Heritage Park

BONUS KID ACTIVITY:
Archaeology Activity for the KIDS at Heritage Park! 1-3 PM

1:30 to 2:15 PM Cindy Winslow, Grand Traverse Band of Ottawa and Chippewa Indians.
Cindy Winslow will give a presentation about Beaver Island History and the Eyaawing Museum and Cultural Center in Peshawbestown.

2:30-3:15 PM Renee "Wasson" Dillard, The Little Traverse Band of Odawa Indians.
Renee is a traditional Ash Basket Weaver and will give a presentation on the process of selecting a tree and crafting Ash Baskets.

4:00-5:00 PM Wesley Andrews, THPO & NAGPRA Officer for the Little Traverse Bay Bands of Odawa Indians.
Wesley Andrews will examine the Native artifacts from the Print Shop Museum and describe the period of construction and how the objects were used. This a unique opportunity to see the artifacts up close and learn about early Native American life on the islands.

​7:00-8:00 PM: Terri Bussey presents "Stories Written in the Stones,"
​New research on cultural connections between early Native Americans and the Arranmore Irish of Beaver Island: songs, legends, astronomy and stone structures.

​8:00-9:00 Dr. Scott Demel will share NMU's Archaeology field school discoveries of what was uncovered and discovered about Beaver Island history.

A free will donation basket will be passed at intermission. #BIHSMUSEUMWEEK2017
