Sounds Like Summer

Post by WVBI »

The Emerald Isle is sounding her horn more frequently, the light chorus of the frogs, bugs and birds has turned into a rock concert, and the sounds of breakfast, lunch and dinner service are breaking out all over. Itâ??s the first weekend of summer on the island and weâ??ve got programs to match.

Tune in this morning at 8:00 for RadioLab. Our latest addition at WVBI, Radiolab explores big ideas in science (and beyond) through conversation, storytelling and soundâ??and this morning the topic is numbers. Do we need them? Love 'em or hate 'em, you rely on numbers every day. Listen in. Youâ??ll be surprised what you learn.

At 10:00 this morning tune in as Cynthia Jaye enumerates summer events on the island and plays summer songs to match in this weekâ??s Top Ten + Five with the theme Sounds Like Summer. Then the famous WVBI Cottage Mixâ??a collection of pop, country, jazz, folk, Celtic and island artistsâ??is the soundtrack for your Memorial Day Saturday until the sun gets ready to set over Donegal Bay.

At 5:00 Sheri Timsak is in the studio taking requests with Country Classics. At 7:00 the Retro Album Chart Show with host Titus Jennings takes to the air (you can listen on your way in to see Drinking Habits 2 at the BIC Center at 7:30). Then at 9:00, Mark Beltair is in with WVBIâ??s original music show Rockinâ?? the Boat followed at 11:00 by two hours of WVBIâ??s Classic Rock Saturday Night.

While you're here on the web, click through to see a time lapse of activity yesterday on the BIBCO ferry dock captured by the WVBI/BIC Center Paradise Bay Webcam: https://youtu.be/XI3MUFyqOBo

Itâ??s all on WVBI â?? the Voice of Beaver Island. Listen on the island at 100.1 FM and worldwide on www.wvbi.net.
