Coming up this afternoon on your community radio station listen for another outstanding production from the BICS Media Lab. It's Home- a student produced show about the Strangite Mormons. The Strangite Mormon period on the Beaver Island, though a short 8 years, left an indelible imprint. More memorable than James Strang's claim to a kingdom are the orchards, roads and place names left behind by the Mormons -- all of them artifacts of a persecuted people seeking to make for themselves a home. Home. That is the title of this radio show produced by Beaver Island Community School students Simeon Richards, Sun Kuntaro and Sabrina Kenwabikise. Listen in and get a glimpse of the universal desire to find refuge, peace and a life of one's own -- whether you're Strangite or not.
It's only on WVBI - the Voice of Beaver Island. Listen today at 3:00 at 100.1 on the island and worldwide at www.wvbi.net.
