Emmett Martin passed away Friday evening last. He had been ill for quite some time. He was born Oct. 6th 1947 and as many of you know a twin to Ernie who passed 2 years ago. Their father Charlie always proudly announced them as, "My two twins"!! Funeral arrangements are tentatively this Saturday on Beaver Island. When the full arrangements are know could someone please post?

Richie, The poem that you wrote for Emmett and Ernie was wonderful and I think that you should post it here for all the people that were not able to be at the funeral today.

â??MY TWO TWINSâ?￾

Daddy said, â??Now boys, finish loading them netsâ?￾,
â??We got to get them in the lake before the sun should setâ?￾.
â??Weâ??re running down to Big Sand Bay and set them near the pot,
If weâ??re lucky in a couple days we will have caught a lot:!

â??Now Emmett you get that bow line off and Ernie take the stern,
This is how we do it lads, if its money you want to earn!â?￾
â??Now when we get back from this set your birthday off youâ??ll take,
â??And for your present Ernie, a shovel and Emmett, you a rake.â?￾

Weâ??ll pull in to the shed and light a little fire,
Weâ??ll throw a coil right on top and recycle that old wire.
Later weâ??ll walk up to the house and say hello to ma,
Sheâ??s cooking birthday dinner for you lads and your old pa.

On Thursday weâ??ll start the buzz rig and cut some fire wood,
A good sized pile will last for months, you know that will be good.
Weâ??ll take some to your godfather, Ernie, old Willie John,
You know it wonâ??t be too many years before heâ??s dead and gone.

Next week weâ??re going to Hog Isle to stay in the little shack,
Its been quite a while since we were there, it will be nice to go back.
Weâ??ll set some nets then fix the roof that much has to be done,
With rain and snow coming our way a leak is never fun.

This winter weâ??ll get lots of ice in and put it in the bin,
Weâ??ll cover it with sawdust or itâ??ll melt, and that would be a sin.
And on the ice weâ??ll go to Garden Isle, you know its not that far,
I saw a Model â??A â??sitting, itâ??s a decent looking car.

Now boys you have to remember, I do this all for you,
This is all important stuff some day youâ??ll have to do.
When Iâ??m gone and your old ma too, you will be on your own,
You have to live your lives yourselves, you will be fully grown.

Youâ??ll have to live your lives, maybe on the other shore,
These days you canâ??t be certain, you might even go to war.
But live your life the best you can and make a bunch of friends,
Keep them â??round, enjoy your life for someday yours will end.â?￾

Now theyâ??re gone, their day is done, it came far too soon,
Charlies' â??Two Twinsâ?￾ have left us now from a disease that is such a sin.
They left us with memories though, to take us through the years,
We laughed, we lived, and so much more and now we shed a tear.
