Now that we have a place to stay,* and a beater car to leave on the Island so we can take advantage of the plane as well as the ferry, our small family is coming up to spend Christmas week plus a few days.
Are there any activities going on, or is it a quiet time?
John
* After weekly rentals for five years or so, we took the plunge at the end of the summer and bought a place at Wicklow Beach. We're looking forward to spending as much time on the Island as job and school will allow.

Congratulations on your new Island home. My husband and I have had a home on the Island for over 10 years now. We have spent many Thanksgiving and New Year holidays on the Island. It is pretty laid back, which you will most likely love. The lake is always gorgeous.
As far as public activities, there are usually activities on New Year's Eve- special dinners at restaurants and typically some live music happening somewhere.
In years past there has been a New Year's Eve party at Holy Cross Hall, but it hasn't been well attended the last few years, so not sure it is scheduled for this year.
There are public events earlier in December- the Cantata at the Christian church and holiday sale of crafts.
Enjoy your first Christmas on the Island!
