Tip of the hat to the Beaver Islander

Post by South Shore »

While she sails along to Mackinaw City for her cruise, raise a glass in honor of the proud gal as she celebrates the 45th anniversary of her maiden voyage to Beaver Island. Countless trips, passengers, cargo... she's just like a member of the family. Spending 25 years with her little sister, South Shore and now more laid back with the new flagship, she's served the Island well and is the longest serving ferry in Island history.

Just a note, the sale of Emerald Isle to Arnold Transit was completed in June, with BIBCo getting the money but Arnold Line not receiving the boat until the Beaver Islander arrived. So the Emerald Isle's last trip ended at 1030 at night on the 4 and she was moved out of the way for the new boat. The Beaver Islander arrived on the 5th and immediately loaded for her first run. She took off late afternoon and an Arnold Transit crew came and sailed the Emerald Isle off late at evening. During her first few months of operation, she retained the large green stripe down the hull, as there wasn't enough down time to repaint her.

Three long and two short to the Beaver Islander!
