MUSEUM WEEK Sunday 4-5 PM Dr. Robert List & John Bierma

Post by BI Historical Society »

4:00 - 5:00 P.M. BI Upstairs in the Community Center:

* John Bierma and Dr. Robert List â??Rambling Along Latitude 45Nâ?￾

Check out a 45-minute presentation about Beaver Island and Northern Michigan Mysteries: Stone Circles, Necropolises, Cairns, Jetties, and Standing Stones." The presentation shows several mysterious rock formations found on Beaver Island on top of the ancient Nipissing shoreline that includes Angeline's Bluff and an ancient channel that ran through a breach in Angeline's Bluff at the west end of Barney's Lake and continued across Beaver Island to Egg Lake and the Egg Lake outlet east of King's Highway. These rock formations appear to mimic Bronze Age megalithic constructions found on the island of Crete, North Africa, ancient Iberia and the British Isles. Similar formations are noted on the Garden Peninsula and along the north shore of Lake Huron. The theory needs to be tested that these structures were left by Bronze Age copper miners who worked the mines of Isle Royale and the Keweenaw Peninsula.

Very informative presentation and a full house. Hopefully the presenters will update us as they discover more about the subject.

It might be worthwhile to ask them to repeat the presentation for those who missed it.
