NEW Island Event May 20th

There will a new spring event this year brought to you by Beaver Island Chamber of Commerce. The Chamberâ??s Board of Directors decided to put on a â??Community Appreciation Day,â?? a change from past yearâ??s Citizen of the Year event.
Chamber Board President Rachel Teague said the board felt it was time for something new for the community. â??Our goal for the event is to bring together local businesses and the community to celebrate the start of a new summer/tourist season as well as a business networking event and opportunity to gather direct feedback from our members regarding their wants and needs from the Chamber,â?￾ said Teague.
The new event, â??Community Appreciation Day,â?￾ will be held on Saturday, May 20, from 4 to 8:00 p.m. at the Beaver Island Boat Dock. In case of inclement weather, the party will be held inside on the freight deck of the Emerald Isle.
There will be great food at the pig roast, including the pork, side dishes and dessert. Beer and soft drinks will also be provided (if you have a different favorite libation you may bring it along).
There also be entertainment - with details to be announced soon. All are asked to please bring along a lawn chair.
All community members are invited to the event. There will be a free will donation taken and any proceeds over cost will be used by the Chamber for marketing Beaver Island.
The Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors: Rachel Teague, John Works, Mark Engelsman, Jean Kinsley, Trisha Chandler, Marijean Pike, Tim McQueer, and Diane McDonough. The Chamberâ??s Executive Director is Steve West.
