Just curious as to why the winners were announced prior to the dinner?? I don't recall this ever happening in the past.

And Congrats to the Beaver Island Club of Grand Rapids: Paul and Shirley Cole [President], Tim (Vice President) and Brenna Wearn, Maeve Green [Vice President], Barb Flowers (Secretary), Jim (Treasurer) and Andrea Gallagher, Dave and Diane Westmaas, Greg Albrecht, Courtney Van Wyk, Whitney Albrecht, Kelly Flipse, Cindy Cushman, Heather McDonough, and Emily Gray.

And also to Dick Burris.

After what I was told, I'm guessing they're hoping someone will be here to accept the award.

I think it was decided because it was sometimes hard to get the people that won to come out for it.

Congrats to Dick and BIGR Club but kind of takes the magic out of the evening when announced prior to the event. What's up Chamber guy?  :P

Chamber Guy, Here's a suggestion to make it a surprise for the public. Contact the winners privately a few days prior to the dinner and invite them as the Chamber's guest (free) at the dinner to accept the award which should be kept secret until announced. If the winner is unable to attend, they can select a designate to accept the award. :!:
Another thought would be to continue to announce the winner in advance on the forum and just forget about having an award's dinner. :?:
Just a thought having been a past (passed) nominee.
