2016 MUSEUM INTERNSHIP OPPORTUNITY

Beaver Island Historical Society (BIHS) is seeking an intern for the summer of 2016. Located on beautiful Beaver Island in Lake Michigan, BIHS owns and operates two museums and two other properties. Internship dates and hours are negotiable, but likely the intern would work 30 hours per week for 8 weeks; ideally during the months of June and July.


The successful intern candidate should be able to help with the following projects: implementation of recently purchased Past Perfect Museum Software; update and assist in social media marketing â?? specifically the website and Facebook presence, assist the director with planning and execution of Museum Week activities, offer expertise on current museum displays.


BIHS will offer student interns one set of round trip flight tickets and one set of round trip boat tickets. BIHS will assist the selected intern in finding affordable housing and will provide up to a $2,000.00 stipend. Additionally, students will enjoy an island summer with immediate access to beautiful beaches, hiking, fishing, and island hospitality and night life.
