R&B Top Ten + Five on WVBI

Post by WVBI »

Join us this morning at 10:00 and again Wednesday evening at 7:00 for the latest WVBI Top Ten + Five. This time host Cynthia Jaye takes a look at R&B track the evolution of the genre from its birth to the hits of today. And thought the show was written and recorded before Maurice White of Earth, Wind & Fire passed away, EWF is there (and full show featuring him is in the works).

And that's just the start of the locally produced musical goodness we have lined up for you this weekend. This evening from 5:00 to 7:00 join Sheri Timsak for Country Classics for a performer's tour the music that made the genere classic. Then at 9:00, Mark Beltaire is in with another Rockin' the Boat--rock in all its flavors with rare tracks and lots of insight on the music. On Sunday from 5:00 to 7:00 Phil Becker takes the studio to search the stacks of wax for the platters that matter for WVBI's Sunday Night Oldies, and Mark is back at 9:00 for an encore Rockin' the Boat.

And of course we have our off island-produced shows on both nights: Celtic Connections at 7:00, the International Americana Music Show at 8:00 and Full Moon Hacksaw from 10:00 to Midnight.

No matter what kind of music you like, you'll find it this weekend on your community radio station WVBI--the Voice of Beaver Island--at 100.1 FM on the island and worldwide at www.wvbi.net.
