WVBI Weekend: chock-full-o-special shows, music & more

Post by WVBI »

It's another busy summer weekend on the island. We have details, special programs and a soundtrack to help you enjoy it.

Bring yourself up to date on island events with Beaver Island Perspectives Saturday and Sunday morning at 9:00. We'll cover the Baroque on Beaver events both days and, on Saturday, we'll have info on the Amvets dedication of memorials to each of the Native Americans from the archipelago who have served in the US armed forces--and on Road to Andersonville, the special documentary film they'll show at 3:00 and 7:00 p.m. at the Community Center.

Earlier both days, you'll have an opportunity to get up to date on world events with Worldlink at 6:00 a.m., personal stories from people involved in headline events around the world, Inside Europe at 7:00, news from the continent of our Irish forbearers and Living Planet at 8:00, news from around the world about the environment.

Then, at 10:00 on Saturday, stay tuned for WVBI's Top Ten + Five with Emily and Mady. This week's list comprises the top 15 feminist anthems. Fasten your seatbelt girls (and boys).

From 11 and all through the afternoon it's the Cottage Mix. A song for everyone at your cottage. Then stay tuned as our weekend music specials continue:

Celtic Connections at 7, the International Americana Music Show at 8, Rockin' the Boat with Mark Beltaire at 9 and Fullmoon Hacksaw at 10. Then, it's music for everyone all night with the Cottage Mix.

Sunday afternoon, get your classical music fix at 1:00 p.m. with The Collector's Corner with Henry Fogel from PRX and our special Sunday Night Oldies Show with Phil Becker at 5:00 p.m. The rest of the day, it's the Cottage Mix and after the evening music specials (same as Saturday), jazz overnight with the Jazz Nightwatch.

It's a weekend of great programming all on 100.1 FM here on the island and worldwide on www.wvbi.net.
