Granola Bar Recipe

Post by Richards »

I have had many requests for this recipe, and thought I would share it with all of our BI friends :)

CHEWY GRANOLA BARS

Melt in pan:
½ c. butter
½ c. honey
¼ c. peanut butter
1/3 c. brown sugar
1 t. baking soda
-after done add 1 t. vanilla

Mix in bowl:
4 ½ c. old-fashioned oats
½ c. flour
½ c. craisins
½ c. sunflower seeds

Later: 1 c. chocolate chips

First mix wet ingredients in pan on stove. Mix dry ingredients in bowl. Add together in bowl. Then when cool enough, add chocolate chips.
If you desire the chocolate to be slightly throughout granola, add when warm.

Press into a greased 9x13 pan.
Bake at 325* for 20 minutes. Cool for 10 min. and cut into bars. Cool completely in pan.

Enjoy!

Sheri,

I used Almond Butter in place of the PB, and have to say had a hard time waiting for them to cool. Excellent! Thank you for sharing.

Any idea how many calories are in these little gems?

Nice ~ I hope they tasted as good as they looked!

I am sure these are ZERO calories. Especially when they rate so high on the satisfaction scale :)

BTW, I didn't note that this is my base recipe, and I often add or substitute any yummy items I may have around the kitchen at the time.
It seems you may already be on that track Cathy. Kudos.

I've calculated 4914 calories for the entire dish.
That's with an amber honey, crunchy pb, white flour & unsalted sunflower kernels.
Mmmmmmm!
