Sidewalk markers?

Hi, My wife & I just visited Beaver island from Monday, Oct 3rd to Wednesday, Oct 5th.

We really loved the area & found everyone to be very helpful & friendly. Particularly thanks to the folks at Shamrock, who gave me good info on driving around the island, while waiting for my pizza.

My wife found 3 metal markers cemented into the sidewalks in town. 1 was in front of the Island ferry fence, another in front of Ace Hardware & the last in front of Beaver Island realty. They had 4 points possibly indicating the 4-points of the compass. Can anyone tell us what they are??

BTW, I keep wanting to wave at passing vehicles at home, haha

Dan, They are compass rose(s), they indicate north south east and west.

I figured they were compass roses.

I'm wondering if anyone knows why they are there at those locations?

They were donated and put at random locations.
