    Annual 2008 Beaver Island Boodle and the Bite of Beaver Island

    Boodle & Bite - October 4 : starts with an 8-mile bike ride this year (a shorter distance for youngsters) at
    8 a.m. Sign up at the Island Boodle registration area (free will donation requested) and you'll be back in time for the annual Island Boodle, the 5 K Walk/Run along beautiful Paradise Bay. The Bite of Beaver Island Food Festival is then at Holy Cross Hall from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. with artisans and more in the Community Center..

    The Wisdom of Our Ancestors from Celtic Lore to Beaver Island

    The Wisdom of Our Ancestors - Thursday July 24, 2pm at the Parish Hall. Teacher and peace activist Seamus Norgaard will discuss The Wisdom of our Ancestors, talking about Celtic culture and lore ranging from Ireland to Beaver Isle.

    Diving on Beaver Island Shipwrecks

    Shipwreck Diving - Thursday July 24, 8pm at the Parish Hall. Mike and Gail Weede will present another thrilling episode of diving on the Island’s shipwrecks such as the Niko.

    The Ray Denny Memorial Art show

    The Ray Denny Memorial Art Show - at the Gregg Fellowship Center Noon-5pm Wednesday and Thursday and Noon-7pm Friday. Come see the talent of the island with over 20 artists participating with some demonstrating crafts from Totem-pole carving to painting.

    Imagineering

    Imagineer - 8pm Tuesday Night at the Parish Hall. Bruce Struik will host an interactive program in which the audience will suggest how specific found natural objects might become art, after which they’ll view the actual finished pieces. Join in and get ideas for your own projects, then spend the next few days searching the woods and combing the beaches for lost treasures.

    Music on the Porch - kicks off the 28th Annual Musuem Week at 7:30 tonight, Monday July 21st, 2008.

    The Protar House

    The Protar House - is open in the afternoon with Antje Price talking about Protar, Saint of Beaver Island from 1-3 as the start of Museum Week 2008.

    Yankee Lady B17

    The Yankee Lady B-17 touched down at the township airport just before 4 pm this Friday, July 18, being delayed during the day due to fog. The Yankee Lady will give sponsors a flight around 11:00 a.m. on Saturday the 19th and will be available for tours and flights at the Township Airport.

    Beaver Island Music Festival

    The Beaver Island Music Festival "The Island Rite of Summer since 2003" takes place July 18 and 19, rain or shine. Click here for the programme of musicians who will perform this year!

    New EW Marine Internet/Cell Towers on Beaver Island

    It's up - The three new 180' E.W. Marine towers, on the Font Lake side of Donegal Bay Road, at the East Side Fire Station, and at Greene's Lake, are now up. Photographs and more in the May Beacon!

    The Return Trip - James Kenwabkisi in the Ruby Ann breaks out from the point through 16" ice to re-open the harbor for the Emerald Isle's return trip with Bud Martin on the ice ready to chainsaw when needed. Full story and photographs in the April Beacon!

    The Ruby Ann tug is hauled, trailered, and transported to Whiskey Point for relaunch where the ice passage is not so long to reach open water and rebreak the channel previously cut by the Biscayne Bay.

    In Route to Whiskey Point - You've never seen the Ruby Ann here before! On a flatbed trailer in front of the Harbor Light waiting to launch into a chainsaw cut berth in the ice.

    Pinky Lee on Prairie Home Companion

    Pinky Lee on NPR - Beaver Island's Jenny Bousquet and Holly Keller have been playing music together for the past year, writing songs about family, love, and seasons with a folky, soulful style. Both women play guitar and mandolin while singing unique vocal harmonies. Listen to and vote for Pinky Lee on March 15, ~5:30 to 6:30 p.m.
